The Weekly Every Day: What's the link between your πŸ‘ and low back pain?

Takeaways:

  • Everything in our body is connected

  • Try this 5 minute, snack-sized stretching and strengthening flow for your butt (that supports your low back)

Hi friend,

6 years ago I threw out my back in the shower β€” talk about humbling.

10 years of sitting finally caught up with me.

How so?

Because my tight low back could no longer rely on my weak buns for support.

It's the ultimate example of everything in our bodies being connected.

What does that even mean?

It means:

When one part of our body is tight, it's usually accompanied by another weak area.

It's all connected mannnn...

How it's "all connected"

Think of it like this:

Tight areas β€”> need to be stretched and lengthened

Weaker areas β€”> need to be strengthened

But! There some areas that are both tight and weak!

Like our a**

The link between your a** πŸ‘ & low back pain

Our glutes play a huge role in supporting our lower back.

But two things can happen to our booty muscles:

1) They can be really tight from being overworked

or

2) They can be weak (from inactivity like sitting for long periods of time).

So in this case it’s important to find moves / stretches that both strengthen and lengthen our butt.

Such as:

  • Shoulder bridge (hinge)

  • Knees to chest

  • Sidelying leg lift

  • Figure 4 stretch

Realistic benefits?

Not throwing out your back...

  • Lifting a box

  • Picking up your kiddo

  • Bending in the shower

Did someone say, "I wish there was a video flow I could follow"

Wow, that's crazy you asked.

I just so happen to have made a video exclusively for newsletter subscribers.

Other "connected" examples

Outside of those "buns" hun, there are some other notable connected areas you may never thought about.

Like:

tight chest + shoulders β€”> weak upper back

weak abdominals β€”> poor posture/forward head posture

tight quads β€”> weak hamstrings

Final tid-bit

There's a million and one things to remember throughout the day.

But there's only two thoughts I want you to walk away with:

  • Our bodies are connected, from one side to the other.

  • It only takes small habits (like the video linked above) to help your body move and feel better in the long run.
